The New Delhi Railway Station is a vast station comprising 16 platforms and handling more than 300 trains and four lakh passengers a day. The railway station also provides a Yatri Niwas, which is an accommodation facility for those that wish to stay at the station. The passengers can get an advance reservation done by prepaying the full amount.
As per the present status, the New Delhi railway station is set to flaunt a new and swanky look as it is going under a major renovation and expansion process. Ahead of the commonwealth games, the New Delhi railway station is going to get a modern look as a new complex is being constructed on the Ajmeri Gate side of the station. The new building would house state-of-the art facilities like elevators, food plaza, escalators, and dormitories, retiring rooms, shopping malls, VIP lounge, cyber café and an international tourist bureau. All these facilities are provided to uplift the passenger amenity status and decongest the main station. The station with these facilities is set to be an excellent railway station providing world-class passenger facilities.
